POSITION OVERVIEW
LENAX is looking for qualified candidates for a Project Controls III (aka Project Controls Manager) role which will be responsible for project reporting, controls activities that include planning / scheduling, cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control activities, change management. They will be responsible for directing cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. They will also direct schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, impact identification, and recovery plan development activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Reviews project work activities to ensure support of project milestones. Develops micro-phasing schedules as required to coordinate particularly challenging work phases; and helps coordinate the various parties to completion.
- Participates in discussions with designers, contractors and other third-party entities to proactively identify project risks; and develop recommendations as to how to mitigate the risks.
- Participates in reviewing the contractor pay application; and ensures it is consistent with the schedule update and other progress documents.
- Coordinates cost recording, monitoring, and reporting practices for compliance with applicable standards accuracy and consistency.
- Coordinates development of schedule resource loading and leveling; and the schedule development, maintenance and monitoring activities.
- Provides progress reporting documents and briefing materials as required. Develops creative reporting tools to communicate complex project sequencing and/or progress assessments.
- Responsible for promptly reporting budget and/or schedule variances.
- Possesses understanding and appreciation for time frames necessary including BHS, Special Systems, Power, HVAC and other aviation related disciplines.
- Previous project controls experience on a large-scale, multi-million-dollar construction project required. Experience on a large-scale aviation-related project is required.
- Must be a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable of assuming additional responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success on the job, as evidenced by satisfactory performance, acceptance of responsibility and growth in previous positions. Proven accuracy, reliability and completeness in job accomplishment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds; must be detail-oriented and highly organized; and must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer-service attitude.
- Must present a “can-do” spirit within the controls team: inspiring them to produce consistently accurate results at a fast pace.
HARDWARE / SOFTWARE SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of software products, e.g. Excel, Word, etc.
- Proficient with industry software such as Expedition, etc.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat is required.
- Experience with Primavera Project Planner Version 6.0 or higher is desirable.
- Experience with large-scale construction management software such as Prolog is desirable.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE LEVEL / OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Fifteen (15) years or more of Project Controls experience--preferably in a public-sector airport.
- Demonstrated project controls experience managing the design and construction of large-scale, complex projects, including developing and managing a progress reporting methodology for a complicated design effort.
- Experience with Design-Build and Construction Management at Risk delivery methods is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to understand a demanding, technical and complicated construction program; and, the ability to communicate progress and issues to a technical- and management-level audience.
EDUCATION / TRAINING
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or other technical field is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS / DESIGNATIONS
- Optional Certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PMP, PE, AICP, PMI-SP etc., or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certifications.
ASSIGNMENT-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS / NOTES
- May assume other duties as required/needed.
- May be required to work beyond regular shift hours as needed.
- May be required to work various shifts as needed.
- This position offers a hybrid/telework schedule. Telework - Monday and Friday. Onsite - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, upon approval. Details available in the Client’s Pilot Policy.
Work Location:
The position is a full-time, regular, exempt position which will report to the designated Los Angeles area project offices. (Reporting location and instructions will be provided upon hire.)
Telework Option:
Telework is available, but approval is at the discretion of the Owner/Client and Department leadership. Note: This is not a fully-remote position. Telework, if afforded, is offered as a benefit, and is not required. For those who are authorized to telework, it is assumed that they have the necessary workstation items available to them at home. A complete workstation is provided, at the project / client-site office, only.
Position Status / Compensation:
This is a full-time, regular, W2 position with Lenax Construction Services, Inc. as the employer, and performing consultative services, as a Project Controls III (aka Project Controls Manager), at the Owner/Client’s worksite.
The compensation for this position will be $74 - $79.25/hr. ($153,920.00 - $164,840.00). The assigned rate will be based upon experience, directly applicable experience, industry experience, skills, education, and other certifications, licensure and training.
